Product Introduction
Hastelloy® C-276 (UNS N10276) – Premium Corrosion-Resistant Alloy
Material Overview
Hastelloy® C-276 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten alloy engineered for exceptional performance in severely corrosive environments. Recognized as an industry benchmark for chemical processing, this superalloy combines outstanding oxidation resistance with unparalleled stability across reducing and oxidizing media.
Key Properties
- Extreme Corrosion Resistance: Withstands pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in chloride-rich environments (tested to 100,000 ppm Cl⁻). Resists sulfuric, hydrochloric, phosphoric, acetic acids, and chlorine contaminants at elevated temperatures.
- Optimized Composition:
- Ni (Balance): Forms corrosion-resistant matrix
- Mo (15–17%): Enhances reducing acid resistance
- Cr (14.5–16.5%): Provides oxidation resistance
- W (3–4.5%): Stabilizes localized corrosion resistance
- Thermal Stability: Maintains structural integrity from cryogenic temperatures (-196°C) up to 1,093°C (2,000°F) in continuous service.
- Mechanical Strength: Typical tensile strength ≥ 690 MPa (100 ksi), yield strength ≥ 283 MPa (41 ksi).
Industrial Applications
- Chemical Processing: Reactors, distillation columns, and piping systems handling aggressive acids and catalysts.
- Pollution Control: Flue gas desulfurization (FGD) scrubbers, chimney liners, and waste incineration components.
- Pharmaceutical: Critical vessels requiring ultra-low metallic contamination (meets ASME BPE standards).
- Marine Engineering: Seawater heat exchangers, offshore platform risers, and subsea manifolds.
- Nuclear: Fuel reprocessing equipment and radioactive waste containment.
Manufacturing Capabilities
Available as seamless tubes, welded pipes, plates, bars, and custom-fabricated components. Compliant with ASME SB-622, SB-619, ASTM B574/B575. Weldable via GTAW/GMAW with ERNiCrMo-4 filler metal.
Certifications:
- NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 (Sulfide stress cracking resistant)
- EN 10204 3.1/3.2 Material Certification
- FDA-compliant for food/pharma contact surfaces
