Product Introduction
L80-9Cr Low Alloy Steel OCTG Product Introduction
1. Material Overview
L80-9Cr is a cost-effective chromium-modified low alloy steel designed for oil country tubular goods applications. This material bridges the performance gap between conventional carbon steels and higher-grade 13Cr alloys, offering improved corrosion resistance while maintaining economic viability.
2. Key Specifications
- Chemical Composition: Contains 8-10% chromium with controlled carbon content (0.15-0.25%) and minor alloying elements
- Mechanical Properties: Meets API 5CT L80 grade requirements with minimum yield strength of 552 MPa (80 ksi) and maximum hardness of 23 HRC
- Corrosion Resistance: Provides 2-3 times better CO₂ corrosion resistance than standard carbon steels
3. Performance Characteristics
- Suitable for sweet service applications with moderate CO₂ partial pressures
- Operating temperature range from -18°C to 121°C
- Better sulfide stress cracking resistance than conventional carbon steels
4. Primary Applications
- Production tubing in sweet oil wells with moderate CO₂ content
- Casing strings in mildly corrosive environments
- Economical alternative where 13Cr alloys are not justified
5. Manufacturing Standards
- Manufactured to API 5CT specifications
- Available in standard OCTG sizes
- Typically supplied in quenched and tempered condition
